Founder Darren Rowse is a digital photography enthusiast who created the site to share tips for photographers who want to get the most out of their cameras.<\/p>\n

\u201cI previously owned and operated a digital camera review site \u2013 and over two years I had a lot of emails from readers asking for tips on how to use their cameras. I came to the conclusion that while there are many millions of cameras being bought each year around the world, a very large number of people could be using their cameras to achieve better results. I\u2019d written a number of \u2018tips\u2019 articles over the past couple of years but my focus was mostly on cameras. As a result I wanted to start a site dedicated purely to \u2018how to\u2019 tips.”<\/p>\n

And so Digital Photography School<\/a> (dPS) was born in 2006. Since then the site has grown to include a team around the world writing tips for a community of over 2 million.<\/p>\n

This \u2018School\u2019 is not a formal one by any means. There are no classes, no teachers, no exams \u2013 rather it\u2019s a challenging and enjoyable learning environment where we share tips and techniques to help you improve all aspects of your photography and in our Facebook Group<\/a> where over 120,000 of us share what we\u2019re learning, show our photos and ask and answer each other questions.<\/p>\n

Also, unlike most schools, the information here is free. We do run limited advertising, affiliate programs and we promote our own resources to help us cover costs and keep expanding (read more about this on our disclaimer page<\/a>) – however there is no cost to our readers.<\/p>\n
